How To Charcuterie

MK and I have always loved a good date night in but obviously there are far more now. One of our favorite things to do is make a Charcuterie Board and have some wine. I’ve done a couple posts about cheese boards but today I’m giving you a step by step on how to do it and make it picture perfect. We might not be having gatherings at the moment but when we do you can be ready for it with a beautiful cheese board. Hone your skills and make this a date night!

Here is where to start:

  1. Start with your “Extras”:

    • Feta Stuffed Olives

    • Honey and Walnuts

    • Roasted Pepper Bruschetta

    • Olive Tapenade

    • Fig Spread

Scatter these in a way that you know you’ll be able to fit other things around them.

3. Fromage

  • Fresh Mozzarella

  • Goat

  • Brie

  • Asiago

  • Gorgonzola

I always use the rule “something old, something new, something goat, and something blue. Use that and get different textures.

2. The “Vehicle” (carbs)

  • Fresh baguette

  • Roasted Garlic Melba crackers

  • Toasted Pita

  • Triscuits (garlic)

Have fun with this one. Use the curves of the bowls, stack some, make straight lines. Make each one different. Also spread them out.

4. Meats

  • Hard Salami

  • Thick Ham

  • Pepperoni

These are just what I used this time. Feel free to add more (or less). The round shapes of meat are easy to make lines, curves, or if you’re feelin’ groggy an “S”. You can stack the thicker meats in different areas too. I didn’t have access to Prosciutto but it’s usually on my board.

5. Filler

  • Grapes

  • Cherry tomato

That’s all I used this time but feel free to use fresh herbs and anything else you enjoy. Add these anywhere you might see a space. I always love Basil and Rosemary but again, I didn’t go as all out as I usually do.

This is just my most recent board. I’m always trying new flavors and combinations. But, trust me when I say this is the perfect date night in.

I hope you’re all staying safe and are full of delicious wine and cheese!
