Happy Fall To All!

Happy Fall!
It's finally here!

I can officially ramble on and on about all things pumpkin and faux fur!

Now that I have that out of my system today along with our front porch I'm sharing the wreath that I made, and my favorite chili recipe. Because nothing says fall like chili.

Here is my little fam in front of our door so ready for cooler weather!

It isn't the first day of fall if that doesn't include chili! Like I said yesterday I have been cooking up a storm! I've shared a few chili recipes before but this one is slightly different in that it contains faux meat. But you cook it the same way.  To stay on the healthy side if you are using regular meat use turkey or really high quality ground beef. Here's the quick healthy recipe:

1 pound meat of choice

1 small onion and a couple garlic cloves minced

2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

1 can diced tomatoes

1 can tomato sauce

1 cup broth

2 tbsp chili powder ( I use a good but because I like it spicy)

1 1/2 tbsp garlic salt

3 tsp cumin

2tsp oragano

Let the oil, onion, and garlic simmer for a couple minutes (until the onions are translucent) and then add your meat. After it browns add in everything else. I like to let it cook for up to two hours. Which is great because while that's cooking you can go to other things.

Fast tip: if you like sour cream on chili opt for Greek yogurt instead for a healthier low cal choice. I add garlic salt and parsley to mine.

I guess it's time to find a pumpkin patch to frolic in!

More Is More

...and less is a bore right? That's what Iris Apfel says and she is basically my idol so I'm going with it.

It's no secret that I love my Target stops. It's so therapeutic to grab a Starbucks and float around buying things you don't need. That was not the case when I saw this almost perfect fall vest. I was in love! But it needed something...

I mentioned in pervious posts that my Mom is a costume designer/seamstress by trade, so after texting a pic of these vests to my bestie, telling her she needed them too, Mom was my obvious next call.

Me: Mom I need ostrich feathers.

Mom: Do you think I just have those laying around?

Me: Yes. I desperately need them for a vest.

Mom: I have them. Stop here.

Off to my Mom's work I went where she totally saved the day by adding my feathers. I mean how cute is she? Look at that plan of attack in her eyes! I've always felt very lucky to have a Mom who is always adding a little more sparkle to my life.

The moral of this story is that nothing has to stay the way it is. Always look for a way to make something more even if just slightly.

Happy Labor Day!

I hope it greets you with a day of relaxing and a drink in your hand.

A Good Palette

Hello Monday, we meet again.

I hope that all of you had a great weekend! Mine was, as to be expected, fast. This time of year certainly does that for us as we are in wedding season full swing. Often times Sunday is our day to play catch up with meetings and errands. Saturday was a late night to say the least so we really like to get as much sleep as possible come Sunday morning. As much as I love fashion, I don't wan to spend a lot of time on an outfit especially for just a Sunday spent running around.

Even if you have no clue what you are wearing it's good to have a few color palettes in the back of your mind to pull out. Or pull inspiration from a piece. You might recognize this clutch from my Fall Fashion post. While I had maybe 20 minutes to get ready I looked at my favorite clutch and made my outfit around it. This is a no fail color arrangement that I'm completely obsessed with. Along with my blue shoes that I can't seem to get enough of lately. Another bonus is that these emerald green pants will translate perfectly into fall.

Also I've really been diggin' Navy for a fall nail color. It's pretty much universal.

September is this week!! It's almost time for that PLS! Swoon!

Here's to kicking Monday (and the rest of August) in the behind!
