Starting at the Bottom

What I pulled…

For running errands, shopping, and a lunch date with MK.

I might have talked about this before but for whatever reason when I pull an outfit I always start with the pants or shoes. Well, this day was absolutely about the shoe!! I’m so happy platforms have returned! These were so fun to wear!

When I pulled this outfit, I picked tones that went with the shoes. These deep purple joggers from Banana Republic are a huge staple in my closet (I have them in blue, too.) that I wear all the time. A vest is a great third piece so pump up any look. And if you know me even a little then you know that I live for hats. Believe me, I tried this look without the hat and I just wasn’t as happy. Also, my black pearls were the finishing touch. They really pulled the black from my hat down to my shoes together.

This look was a very typical outfit for me on any given day but it’s always nice to be able to share my love of fashion with you guys!

Have a lovely Tuesday! But, as always, stay sharp. Tuesdays are precarious.

Weeknight Simplicity

Hello, Friends!

Unlike last week I’m going to actually publish this post. I swear in the ten years I’ve been blogging, I’ve never done that. Anyway, here is another easy, 30 minute meal to make on a busy weeknight.

  1. Cut your asparagus into two pieces, bring a saucepan half way full of water to a boil and toss in your asparagus. Boil it for five minutes, drain, and set aside.

  2. In the same saucepan, add two cups broth or water and boil orzo covered for 10 minutes covered. Keep stirring it to make sure it doesn’t stick to the bottom. It’s cooked when all the water is absorbed.

  3. Add your shrimp to a skillet with oil and sprinkle with your red pepper flakes, Italian and salt.

  4. In the same skillet where you cooked the shrimp, add in your wine, lemon juice, garlic and let it reduce. Once it does, add in the butter once it’s off the heat.

  5. Toss in asparagus, orzo, shrimp, and capers. Stir to combine the lemon sauce. Here is where I added a little more red pepper flakes and salt.

  6. Reheat everything on very low heat, sprinkle with a few more capers and enjoy!

The Mediterranean cuisine has always been my favorite to cook and eat. This recipe is absolutely going into my rotation. Not only is it packed with protein, but it’s also such a refreshing dish.

I hope you give this delicious dish a try! It’s worth it!

Happy Wednesday and thanks for stopping by!

Take Your Friends With You

What I pulled…

For dinner at one of our favorite places!

I had no clue where I was headed with today’s “what I pulled” but I’m very happy with where it ended up. It didn’t hit me until I was finished accessorizing so that’s the focus today. But before that let’s start with the underneath. I got this bodysuit from Intimissimi when we were in Miami. It’s absolutely a new favorite place to shop!

I grabbed my black satin button up and a pair of pants I’ve had for YEARS! I love the colors and the black lace bottom.

And on to the accessories:

So I started accessorizing and when I was finished I felt this warm rush of happiness. I realized why I love to get my friends jewelry for occasions. I looked at what I had on and it was five pieces that four different friends got me. Five if you include my sweet husband. My rings are from him, when I had the kids. Each one had their birthstone (which is the same). It’s so nice to leave the house and take your friends with you.

Jewelry is always so much fun but made better when they represent people you love! So thank you to my friends for making this outfit just perfect.

Oh, and a hat! Because, duh, it’s me. And I looooove a hat!

This Monday of mine is jam packed but I hope yours is full of style and friends!
