Work Hard, Dress Up, Feel Good

Hello, Friends!

Contemporary Photography has been absolutely slammed these past few months. It’s dance studio season for us and I’ve loved seeing all of the fabulous dancers dazzle on our paper. I thought since I shared “What I Pulled…” for our first studio, and it was a hit, I would share the looks I choose for the last studio that I’ll shoot (MK does a few by himself in the coming weeks). As I did for the first studio I named each look because I found that rather fun.

  1. A Tribute to Iris

As many know, the world lost the absolutely fabulous Iris Apfel this month. She lived a long fabulous life, but honestly, she was someone I just kind of thought would live forever. She has been such an inspiration to me so many, many, years. I had this tee in my Etsy cart for so long and figured it was the perfect time to purchase it. This fabulous shirt will absolutely be a staple in my wardrobe. Obviously I built this outfit around my new favorite piece but, when I paired it with these paint inspired joggers, it just felt right. Kelly Green is my all time favorite color so it really pulled the look together. I originally planned to wear red stilettos but they didn’t come in the mail in time, so I pulled out my old faithfuls, my cobalt blue stilettos. I truly love them and it thrills me to add them to an outfit for a pop of blue. I added a bunch of bracelets (for Iris) that I got in Hawaii, and red tassel earrings for some flashy red in my blonde hair. I can honestly say this was one of my favorite outfits in a long time.

2. Shall We Safari?

I don’t know what I would look like on safari but there is a good chance it might be something close to this? No heels though in case I had to run for my life from something. In my last post I talked about wearing your cold weather things now before spring comes (tomorrow). That’s what I’m doing here. I only wore these faux leather joggers once before maybe like two years ago so I wanted to wear them again. Most of the time I start an outfit with the pants. No idea why. But I was really digging this color palette. I never wore the scarf or shoes so they were the perfect addition to this outfit. To top this look off a hat of course!

3. Busy & Put Together

You can’t go wrong with a black and white look, right? That’s what I chose for this very, very busy Wednesday. After dropping the kids off to school, I was invited to attend a workshop for Theo’s school. After that, some home and office work, and then it was off to snap more photos of dancers. This look needed to go from very early morning to very late at night. The trousers are an amazing piece from Amazon The Drop by “signedblake” on ig. I’ll always love a cape so I added it, and my iridescent Loubs. I finished the look with gold accessories.

4. Pattern Vibes

I loved this look. Maybe because I love a stripe mixed with another pattern. This fun sheer bodysuit that I’ve maybe worn one other time years ago (why yes, I am a clothes hoarder, haha.) was a really fun addition to this whole look. Long blazers are my favorite and this yellow one from H&M is a major staple in my closet. And look at that, my cobalt heels return. I do love them so. They always, always pull so many of my looks together. Long black pearls were also a great fit for this…fit.

5. A Suit Moment

I LOVE SUITS. Like in my soul. Usually I head to Express or New York & Co. for them. This time it was NY & Co and they did not disappoint. In my humble opinion few looks are more polished and put together than a suit. I really loved the blues and reddish orange together. I wore this for many hours and let me tell you I felt together and comfortable the whole time. Gold accessories matched my latest obsession my gold platforms.

So sadly, I’m missing a look from Thursday. We ran late, hit traffic, and didn’t have time to snap. It’s on my ig though. Anyway, thank you so much for stopping by today. I love getting to share “What I Pulled…” with you. I hope this week brings some good weather, and great style you way.

Stir Up The Week

Hello, hello!

This post is going to be very fast and to the point just the way I like it. Allow me to share my latest obsession…. Stir Fry! A new concept? Absolutely not. But, it’s a great way to eat healthy throughout the week and not cause a huge mess or take up a lot of time. I didn’t even get out my Wok for this one. So, let’s make…..

Bok Choy and Mushroom Stir Fry

what you need:

  • One bunch of baby Bok Choy

  • Mushrooms (I used a variety)

  • A pepper of your choosing, I used a few mini red ones

  • sauce and slurry (see below)

  • 3-4 garlic cloves, minced

  • 2 green onions, sliced

  • 1/2 white onion, cut into bigger pieces

For the slurry:

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch or arrowroot

  • 2 tbsp water

(what’s a slurry? Simply mix these two together to thicken a sauce or certain dish.)

For the sauce:

  • 2 tbsp water

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 1/2 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1/2 sesame oil

what you do:

  • Mix the sauce ingredients together and in a separate bowl, the slurry.

  • Trim the bottoms of the Boy Choy and cut in half. Then, throw some water in a pan or Wok maybe around 1/4-1/2 cup of water and bring to a boil. Add them to the water and allow them to steam for around 60 seconds. Then set aside.

  • Add oil to the pan and add your mushrooms and peppers. After they are nice and cooked make some room in the pan and add in your garlic and onions.

  • Next, pour in the sauce and stir, then add the slurry.

  • Put your Bok Choy back in, give it a good stir and enjoy!

I was hiding from carbs when I made this, so I didn’t add anything else to the dish but if you wanted a heartier meal, you can serve this over rice or rice noodles.

As always, thank you for stopping by! Have the best Thursday!

Wear It Now!

Happy Monday, Friends!

This is your friendly fashion reminder to grab those couple cold weather pieces and wear them now! Spring is knocking on our door. We have fifteen days until the official start of Spring. This means you should go pull your favorite items that maybe you haven’t worn yet or love so much you want to rock them again.

When this time of year comes around, I always grab the things I may have been “saving for a good time” and have them ready to wear already pulled and waiting for their time to shine.

What I pulled….

for a fun day date with MK.

Two things here I know you’ve probably seen before. My big shaggy sweater. I love this piece. I wear it so much, kind of all year but more in fall and winter. It’s chic, fabulous, and goes with everything. Also, my snakeskin boots. They have served me well and this might be their last season. I wanted to make sure I got one more wear out of these beauties. I love a faux leather skirt, so this look was pretty much wear everything before spring gets here.

Also, probably schedule a pedicure. Just sayin’.

Have the best Monday! It’s going to be a beautiful day here in SWPA so enjoy it!
