Fabulous Feathers

Hello Friends!

I’ve been saving this Dior Dictionary Word but I can’t anymore because it is one of my most favorite things in fashion and it is having a MAJOR moment in high fashion right now. From Chanel to Givenchy feathers are everywhere on the runways for Fall/Winter 2019/20.

I’m always amused to see if the word of the week has changed drastically or not from now to then. In this case I would say yes. Feathers have become such a fun part of fashion and taken less serious than the days when Dior wrote this. They have for sure become a way to have fun with fashion and I am all about it!

For me, feathers are always in fashion. But when they are seen on the runways it makes my heart happy. I added a ton of feathers to my wedding gown and even had “feather girls” instead of flower girls. Also, when I talk about feathers I like to talk about one of my favorite pieces I own. I picked it up when shopping in Paris one afternoon at Chantel Thomass.

Another thing I’m living for in fashion right now is feathers on shoes! It’s no secret I have a pretty major shoe obsession and adding feathers to them is the icing on the cake. So stay tuned because for this weeks Martini Moment I’m sharing a very simple DIY with subtle feathers and as always a drink recipe!

Have a chic Tuesday!

Spin It Your Way

Bonjour Friends!

How does it feel like it should be like Thursday by now? Maybe because I have a teething toddler who is just not having it. Anyway, Forth of July Week! I hope that means you get some days off!

This week, Dior’s Dictionary Word is “Collars”. At first I wasn’t all that interested in this word but then I started to think about ways I could really make it my own. Which is what I do with most things but I’m so excited with how I’ve been rocking my collars!

I chose a crisp white collar because to me it felt like a blank canvas that I could do anything to. As I’ve talked about before I loved the fashion in “A Simple Favor” and these looks felt very reminiscent of that style. I certainly agree with Dior that it’s amazing how many collars are out there! They really can make or break a look. But, I will be wearing this top twice, sorry Christian.

The moral of my post today?

Make it your own and put your own spin on fashion!

The Skirt of the Summer

Hello Tuesday!

I don’t know about you but I sure could use a do over from yesterday. Between a not sleeping Theo Sunday night and growing a human it was a very unproductive Monday for me.  So today...I do all the things.

Glamour, Huff Post, The Cut, even The Zoe Report have made pretty clear that the leopard midi is the skirt of the summer I thought it would be a perfect time to do “Skirts” for the Dior Dictionary Word this week.

I always think how interesting it is to look at how most people looked at fashion back in 1954 when Dior wrote this book. I feel fashion has become far more relaxed and while I usually don’t agree with that, this time I really don’t agree with how strict this sounds when wearing a skirt. If you love a skirt and feel good in it then girl, wear it!

One thing that I just love that Dior says is that “Like everything is fashion your clothes must always give you the feeling that they are easy to wear.”  I think this is the big take away here and that is something that will never get outdated. You have to feel good in what you’re wearing and it should feel effortless. While it’s very true this skirt won’t fit me much longer it was the perfect thing to wear while running errands with MK.

I hope you all have a fantastic Tuesday thats productive, short, and ends with a glass of vino.
